Next 2009 Parenting Series Classes:
ENGAGING COOPERATION
Thursday, April 9, 6-8pm
This workshop will look at some common parenting practices for accomplishing tasks with children. Many parents find it challenging to direct children at certain times of day or evening and get frustrated when children don’t do what they’ve been asked. We’ll look at new ways to use positive communication and guidance to help children willingly engage their cooperation and help parents have a plan for working together. This workshop is designed for parents of children of all ages.
See website for pricing and other details. We truly appreciate preregistrations, as there is a minimum attendance requirement to hold this class.

SPECIAL EVENT!
POSITIVE DISCIPLINE
Saturday, April 18, 2-4pm
Have you ever had bedtime aggravations? Is dinnertime at your house a nightmare? Do you find yourself yelling at your child(ren) and then wondering if there is a better way? Parents (and teachers) are often looking for ways to assist them in relationships with children, but for the most part most just don’t know what to do other than what is familiar to them from their own childhood. With these thoughts in mind it leaves one wondering what to do. Don’t fret, there is an answer- and it can be found in a method called Positive Discipline. According to their website, “Positive Discipline is a program designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities.” Based on the books written by Dr. Jane Nelsen and others it can be utilized by parents and teachers for teaching life skills, communication skills and social skills, and it “is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults.”
Dana McCabe, a Certified Positive Discipline Instructor and Certified Montessori Teacher, is the mother of 2 young adults and has been working with preschool aged children for over 30 years.
$35 for up to two from same household! MEMBER PRICE: $30.
